History of the Richmond Facility
The Richmond Wyeth Pharmaceutical and Wyeth Consumer Healthcare
Facility consists of three separate sites totaling over 1.73 million
square feet on 348 acres. Two sites, one manufacturing/office
complex and the Wyeth Consumer Healthcare Global Research Complex,
are all located near downtown Richmond. The other site, the Wyeth
Pharmaceutical Complex and Distribution Center is located
approximately six miles from downtown Richmond near the airport in
Henrico County.
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals -
Darbytown Complex
This facility was constructed in 1980 as a liquid
manufacturing/packaging and dry products plant. In 1990, ChapStick(r)
manufacturing/packaging was added, followed by Denorex(r) and
Preparation H(r) suppositories in 1995. The Richmond production
capabilities include the manufacture and packaging of capsules,
tablets, gels, creams, suppositories, tube products, and
suspensions. In addition, Richmond is noted for the manufacturing
and packaging of high-volume liquids. To support other product
additions since 1990, numerous renovations have been made. These
additions include renovations to the bulk manufacturing areas in
1997, a QA Annex in 2001, and a locker room and cafeteria in 2002.
This facility now consists of an administrative/lab/non-production
area, a liquid-focused factory/pharmacy, a solids-focused factory, a
topical-focused factory, and warehousing space.
Distribution Center - Darbytown Complex
The Distribution Center, also located on Darbytown, functions as a
warehouse and distribution center for Wyeth products.
